Family Update on COVID-19 - April 21, 2020

Dear Big Walnut Families,

As you have probably heard by now, Governor DeWine announced yesterday that he has closed school buildings for the remainder of the year. While this is a difficult way to close the 2019-2020 school year, we know that our staff will continue to find ways to make the end of school special for our students through remote learning. We are continuing to work on plans and will keep you updated as decisions are made. Please see the information below for important reminders and current updates.

NEXT STEPS

We will continue to develop and revise district plans for the remainder of the year, as well as plans for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. We will keep you updated as decisions are made.

We are also planning a schedule for students to get any personal items or medications before summer, and we will provide more information soon.  We anticipate that this will happen around the last scheduled student days.

SPRING SPORTS

As a result of the governor’s closure of school facilities through the end of the year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association has cancelled spring sports for this year.  I know this is devastating for all of our student-athletes, especially our seniors.  At this time, we do not know if our fall sports will be impacted, but we will keep you updated as we learn more.

DON’T FORGET TO VOTE

With all of the current challenges that we each have and days seeming to run together, please don’t forget to request an absentee ballot. Remember to get your vote mailed with a postmark by this coming Monday, April 27. You can request an absentee ballot by visiting the Delaware County Board of Elections website.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
