COVID-19 Update - All Call 3.14.2020
Dear Big Walnut Families,

While we had initially planned to use this coming Monday, the last day we are permitted to be open, as a last opportunity for staff to meet with students to provide resources and directions for remote learning, we will now be closed to students on Monday.

Given the governor’s renewed request to practice social distancing and the expected increase of cases in Central Ohio, we will not have students attend on Monday.  I would strongly urge you to keep your children home as much as possible. Believe me, after one Saturday of being home with sports cancelled, I know personally how rough that is, but hopefully, by doing so we can help slow the spread of the virus and not overtax our healthcare system.

Parents will still be able to pick up medications and any other necessary items in the offices between 9:00 am-3:00pm on Monday.  If this does not work for your family, please email District Nurse Megan Truax ([email protected]) for medications or contact your building principal or secretary regarding other items.

Since remote learning does not start until after break, please give our teachers time this week to continue to work on plans.  We realize that our students in Specialized Learning Centers may need different resources, and we are developing plans to get students those materials.  I have seen some parents online who are worried about trying to work from home themselves and keep kids focused on an entire day of computer work. Please know that is not the intention, especially for elementary kids.  While our younger students will have online options, they will also be asked to read and do other age-appropriate activities. We have asked our staff to be mindful of the stress that this is putting on families, and the plan is not to overburden students with an excessive amount of assignments.

We will continue to provide updates, including additional online educational resources for parents looking for them.  Please check our website for other resources. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
