English Language Learners

Here at Big Walnut, we strive to provide the best learning environment for English Language Learners so they can reach their full academic and social achievement. We do this by providing our students with a safe school culture and a rigorous curriculum that promotes English language development. Our goal is to promote English language skills so that our learners can achieve individual success in and out of the classroom.

Starfall 
Starfall is a great website for early English learners to practice basic concepts such as shapes, colors, numbers, and the alphabet.

iCivics 

This is a web-based education project designed to teach students civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy. It is a language-intensive game that encourages students to engage, compete, and collaborate in the democratic process using their English language skills. Games include running for president, drafting new laws, managing the branches of government, community activism, and more!

Delaware area career center 
DACC offers FREE English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.  Fill out an interest form to learn more!
