Meet the Superintendent

Greetings Big Walnut Families,

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year.  This is my fifth year as the superintendent of Big Walnut Local Schools, and I’m just as excited as I was the first year.

I’m a Pittsburgh native, so don’t hold that against me.  I graduated from Muskingum University in 1999 and received my master’s degree from Xavier University in 2001. My wife and I have two daughters, and we have called the Big Walnut community home for nearly 12 years.  

This will be my 28th year in education, and one belief has stayed constant the whole time:  kids need to learn and have fun.  If they don’t want to be here, we are fighting a losing battle before the day even starts.  My goal, alongside our staff, is a district where kids run into the building faster than they run out of it at the end of the day.  We can build that kind of place and still send every student out the door ready for the military, a post-secondary program, or the workforce. We do this by inspiring and guiding each one toward their maximum potential along the way.

As your superintendent, I am committed to working in partnership with you to ensure the best possible education for your child.  If you see me around town, please say hello (and feel free to give me grief if the Steelers lose to the Bengals or the Browns).
