Technology Update - 4.01.2020
The move to remote learning has included some technology issues for several of us. Some are struggling with reliable internet access at home, and Schoology has been overloaded at certain times, making it difficult to access assignments. We are making adjustments with our teaching staff to minimize the amount of time students need to spend on the internet. In addition, it’s important to know that our teachers are going to be incredibly flexible, and they are not holding hard deadlines for assignments. As for Schoology, while it was not designed to be a comprehensive digital learning academy to support districts across the nation, the company has been working around the clock to try and accommodate this new reality. We encourage students or parents to sign on before 10:00 am or after 12:30 pm as much as possible, as Schoology has shown a pattern of being down due to west coast log-ins between 10-12:30. If you run into an error message or find yourself with no internet service, it may be a good time to read a good book or go for a walk. We know that this is not an ideal situation that any of us are in right now, and we will continue to do our best to make daily adjustments to make this as trouble-free as possible. Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility as we try to adjust to this new normal.
