Technology Update - 4.6.2020

COVID-19 Update to Families (Technology Text Blast) - April 6, 2020

Good Evening Big Walnut Families,

Based on family feedback during the first week of remote learning, as well as the governor’s extension of the school building closure period until at least May 1, we are revising our technology plan for chromebook distribution. For families having two or more elementary students, we want to provide one chromebook for every two students at home.  Since families may have multiple students in grades 5-12, they may already be at this ratio. However, if you do not currently have the device support at home of at least one device for every two students, please email the technology department at [email protected].  For families with an odd number of students, we will “round up” our device support, meaning that a family with three elementary students would have two devices at home.  Upon receiving an email, a technology staff member will communicate with you on the timing of device pickup. While the quickest and most efficient form of communication is via email, if you do not have access to email, you can leave a message by calling 740-965-3010. We will continue to monitor our technology plan and make additional adjustments if necessary.

If you have a student required to spend several hours on the chromebook each day, we ask that you please reach out to the teacher(s) or administrator(s) at the building to share your concern. Thanks for your continued support during these challenging times.  Best wishes for your family’s continued safety and health.
