Gifted Education Services

While the State of Ohio requires gifted identification, it does not mandate comprehensive services for children identified as gifted. Each district must define which identified gifted children will receive services available in their district. Due to the wide range of abilities and differing developmental needs of gifted students, no single service option can provide an optimal educational experience for all identified students. Therefore, a continuum of services is recommended. It is important to match the appropriate educational opportunity to the needs of identified students.

Continuum of Services K-12

K - 4th Services

Students identified as gifted receive services within their general education classroom with the support of a Gifted Intervention Specialist (GIS). The GIS meets with students once a week to help support enrichment and design differentiated activities that the general education teacher can use during small group time.

5th - 8th Services

Gifted students are served in compacted or honors classes at this level.  Compacted math and Honors ELA teachers deliver services in these classroom settings.
