Summer COVID Protocol

As we start our summer break, there are some important updates regarding our COVID-19 protocols for the summer months. The State of Ohio will be rescinding all public health orders effective tomorrow, June 2, 2021. The CDC announced on Thursday, May 13, 2021, a change in its guidance and safety procedures for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Reopening Update - 7-10-2020

Thank you so much for your patience as we have been finalizing reopening plans since hearing the governor’s guidance last week.  We are planning to offer two options for families next year-- 100% in-person or 100% remote learning.

Technology Update - 4.6.2020


Based on family feedback during the first week of remote learning, as well as the governor’s extension of the school building closure period until at least May 1, we are revising our technology plan for chromebook distribution.

The move to remote learning has included some technology issues for several of us. Some are struggling with reliable internet access at home, and Schoology has been overloaded at certain times, making it difficult to access assignments.

All Big Walnut Schools are closed Monday, March 16, 2020.

While we had initially planned to use this coming Monday, the last day we are permitted to be open, as a last opportunity for staff to meet with students to provide resources and directions for remote learning, we will now be closed to students on Monday.

Big Walnut now has a "Digital Backpack" to streamline communication and to help students stay organized. Schoology provides a centralized place for teachers, students, and parents to communicate, access assignments, and receive school and class updates.
